► You Said We Did

2009/2010 YOU SAID WE DID….

As you know, we, as your Students’ Union, are continually asking you for feedback on our services, the Executive officers, marketing, services, etc.

Below are a selection of your feedback and how we have addressed them:

THE GRADUATE

YOU SAID WE DID
We should open at weekends With the refurbishment of the bar last summer we are now open, and serving food, 7 days a week.
Want the music turned lower in the bar Done! Throughout the day the atmosphere is more relaxed and an enjoyable space to eat and relax with friends.
The SU needs to be more comfortable/welcoming Booths, sofas and better seating in the bar have created a more comfortable and welcoming feel, plus sofas in the Coffee Bean are there to help you relax
Want better entertainments in the bar, more Student friendly events  The bar now has a dedicated night to sports and socs, each Wednesday, plus more involvement with student groups (i.e. RAG, HUBA, Ladies Football etc) has increased student organised nights in The Graduate (for example Battle of the Bands)
You wanted more food choice

With the bar refurbishment the menu has been greatly expanded with daily specials and a Sunday lunch option also introduced.

THE SHOP

YOU SAID WE DID
Customer service to be better We have introduced a customer service
training programme for all staff within the SU to improve customer care
You wanted lower prices in the SU With the introduction of 3 meal deals in the Shop, more highlighted offers and the bar drinks prices more in line with town bars we hope this has gone some way to making this happen. Remember, all profits are recycled back into the SU!

EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

YOU SAID WE DID
We should improve the awareness of the Exec This has been addressed during this academic year with the introduction of the ‘Go Out And Talk’ initiative, where officers time has been freed to spend time on all 3 campuses to chat with students and discuss their issues.
You wanted greater Election awareness Voting during the 2010 Election was
online via the University system, Portal Plus, creating more awareness and greater accessibility for all students, as a result turnout increased by 36%.
More Campaigns

We have tried to ensure that the
campaigns have been split throughout the year and are relevant to all students and tackled important topics such as feedback and assessment, class time, tuition fees, green space, creating a closer working relationship with university SMT and increase in sports clubs & societies.

COMMUNICATIONS

YOU SAID WE DID
You wanted a better website    The SU website also had a full refurbishment last summer, with the introduction of the coloured tab system this has eased navigation and search options and many more of you are now using it.
You wanted clearer communication The use of social networking sites has meant the way we communicate with you has changed and has become more instant and on the minute.
Think the newspaper needs to be more relevant The Huddersfield Student newspaper also had facelift for this academic year, readership is up and this has been supplemented by their own website (www.hslive.co.uk) which has all the up to date stories.
The Student Advice and Information Centre
is great!

 Thank you :)

THE IZONE

YOU SAID WE DID
You wanted more sports clubs and societies During this academic year, so far, you have set up 2 new sports clubs and 13 new societies and the iZone is open Monday to Friday to chat through, and make happen, any more ideas you have.
Make it easier to join clubs and societies The website refurb means that information on clubs and societies is easier to access and the introduction of the iZone has enabled students to drop in for a chat, explore setting up new clubs and societies and join up there and then.

And finally – a large number of you think we are doing a great job! THANK YOU
