The Friends of Palestine Society will be the first Society ever to campaign for Palestine on Huddersfield University campus. Being just an idea from three people, it has now become a group with an agenda to educate students on the Palestinian issue. We became official on the 20th of May 2009 after 4 successful events that began in February. Throughout our events we met people who showed interest in our group and immense support; this was not only students from the University but also from organisations campaigning on the same subject.
We have plans to be an active society this academic year ahead and the many to come. Some of our aims include: Campaigning against the oppression and dispossession suffered by the Palestinian people, supporting the human rights of the Palestinian people and their struggle to achieve these rights, promoting Palestinian civil society in the interests of democratic rights and social justice, promoting Palestinian identity and differentiating between Judaism and Zionism. Join us and campaign on one of the most significant issues of modern times!
