► Chinese Earthquake Appeal Collection

On May 12th, 2008, an earthquake 8.0 in magnitude struck the Sichuan province of South-Western China. So far 68,858 are confirmed dead, with a further 366,586 injured, 18,618 listed as missing, and millions homeless.

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) here at the Students' Union organised a collection in the S.U. on Friday the 23rd of May, and also held a street collection in Huddersfield Town Centre on Sunday the 25th of May, with all proceeds from these events going towards The British Red Cross, Chinese Earthquake Appeal.

The total raised from these two events was £770.01. All money from these events will help to provide food, clean water, and shelter to survivors of the earthquake.
