► Mentoring and Befriending

BUDDIES – a project which matches volunteers and people with learning disabilities to enjoy local activities together.

We are asking Buddies to:

● befriend and support a person with learning disabilities

● enable them to enjoy leisure and social activities

● meet with their Buddy for an hour or two once a week

No special skills or experience are needed but we will need the names of two referees and we do a criminal record check on everyone who works or volunteers for MENCAP in KIRKLEES.

Once a Buddy has been approved, a suitable match will be found taking into account factors such as age, interests and location. Buddies will be introduced, supported and accompanied until everyone is happy.
