What is the General Meeting and what can it do?
A general meeting is a democratic forum of the Students’ Union. If 100 or more students attend, a General Meeting can:
In short, it is an opportunity for students to have their say on their Union and hold those you have elected to account.
You can write and propose a motion. The Union is bound by policy and subject to it being legal, the officers of UHSU are bound to uphold the policy passed by students.
The Union chair will convene the meeting and agree the agenda. To get a matter on the agenda in the first instance you may wish to discuss it with the Union chair. Discussions that are more formal are considered through policy motions that enable matters to be discussed in a structured way.
Questions can be asked during the meeting and there will be a section for questions to the executive
Any Item that you want to place on the Agenda should be submitted to j.a.haigh@hud.ac.uk five days in advance of the meeting. Therefore, the deadline for this EGM is 13.30 on 1st December 2009.

You can also contact any of the sabbatical officers to get support or contact the iZone who will be able to support you.
There are many ways to get involved. You could write and propose a motion. Speak at the meeting for against a motion, vote for or against a proposal, or ask a question of the exec. The choice is yours!
