Huddersfield offers a great education, with some fantastic facilities – just look at the radio journalism department which has more advanced technology in it than the BBC – but there are some problems that we need to deal with to make Huddersfield even better, and that is what I want to do for YOU, and for Huddersfield.
Getting our money’s worth
We pay over £3000 a year and yet we get ‘lectures’ with someone reading an essay or from their powerpoint slides – there’s no point getting out of bed for something that you can read at home!
I will ensure that you get the most out of YOUR money
The University has a digital drop-box system in place, and yet several degrees are still expected to hand in hard copies of their assignments, why should students foot the bill of lecturer’s not wanting to utilise the system?
I will make the University cover the cost of their inefficiency
Cuts, Cuts and more Cuts
In the Next year, the Higher Education system will see drastic changes, with funding cuts and potentially catastrophic increases to tuition fees.
I will fight tooth and nail for YOUR education
As one of the most active campaigners within the Union, I think that I’m the best person for the job. I already have working relationships with the people that make the decisions at this university and I will utilise them to get our message across. All that you should have to worry about is having a laugh and getting a degree, and I will make sure that becomes a reality.
I will look after YOUR interests
Education Education Education… but then what?
Check your CV right now for relevant experience in the field that you want, got anything? Very few people do, and that is something that I want to change, because what is the point in a great education if after it all we aren’t qualified for a job?
I will use the connections I have inside and outside university to make sure the students of Huddersfield have the chance to get some real experience for their future job applications
