► Extenuating Circumstances

You may be able to claim that your non attendance at an exam, late submission or poor performance was due to extenuating circumstances. If you wish to do this the request must be in writing to your Course Leader.

You will need to complete an extenuating circumstances form which can be downloaded via the 'My Details' section of the University website. This should be completed, printed off and handed in to your Course Leader. Wherever possible claims must be supported by independent evidence such as a doctor’s note. You will find further guidance on this in your Course Handbook that you received at the beginning of the year and also in the Students' Handbook of Regulations under section 5.

It is important to remember that there are deadlines for submission of extenuating circumstances. You can seek help and advice on this from the Student Advisers in the Students’ Union Advice and Information Centre.
